Feebris Care Home Champion Scheme Winner

In May 2023, ST Leonards Place joined the Feebris Project in Kent.
The Feebris Project, a unique AI-powered, mobile-based software, was introduced to St Leonards Place in May 2023. It stands out for its ability to connect to a variety of health sensors, including Pulse Oximeters, Thermometers, and Blood Pressure Monitors.
The application guides the care staff through the process of using the equipment on the residents, and a short questionnaire is designed to guide the care worker in doing non-invasive check-ups. The care staff play a crucial role in this process, as they are responsible for accurately recording the readings and providing the necessary information in the questionnaire. Based on the answers given to the questionnaire and on the readings recorded by the equipment, the app can then make recommendations such as "monitor closely," "speak with GP," "call 999," or "no action required." These recommendations have the potential to save lives, making the role of the care staff even more crucial.
Health recordings are saved within the system and build a picture of the resident's health over time. Using established guidelines (NEWS2), this supports the care staff to take appropriate action and proactively support our residents, monitor long-term health, and can be shared with GP to support the remote diagnosis of conditions.
This project was free to the home and funded by NHS England as part of the Digitising Social Care Programme. This was meant to be free for 1 year but later was extended for another year.
ST Leonards Place made a firm commitment to the Feebris Project, agreeing to conduct at least one check-up per resident each month. We are proud to uphold this promise, demonstrating our dedication to the project and our residents.
Feebris launched a Care Home Champion Scheme that ran for three months: September, October, and November 2024. This scheme aimed to recognize and reward the commitment of care homes to the project. St. Leonards Place participated enthusiastically and won the monthly prize for all three consecutive months, demonstrating our dedication to the project. We were also designated as the only home with the highest coverage throughout the entire period, further highlighting our success in implementing the project.
At present, one of the main limitations of Feebris is its lack of integration with the NHS platform. This means that users must manually send their health readings to their GP surgery, rather than having these updates transmitted automatically. This additional step can be inconvenient and may lead to delays in communication between patients and their healthcare providers.
