Litter picking heroes

Between March 15th and March 31st, 2024, we participated in the Great British Spring Clean, the largest environmental campaign led by KeepBritainTidy.org. Our goal was to make a positive impact on the environment. On March 26th, staff members and residents came together to pick up litter along the stretch of road that runs from St. Leonards Place, 96 Maidstone Road, down to Chatham Town.
Residents participated in the clean-up effort according to their abilities. Some were able to use the litter-picking stick, while others required staff support to hold the rubbish bags. Litter-picking is an excellent way to help tackle the pollution problem on a local level and can also improve the mental health and well-being of those involved.
Despite the growing concern for our planet, litter remains a significant problem. Therefore, it is crucial for us all to do our part and help to pick it up. We chose litter picking as an activity for our residents because it has no age limit, can be done anywhere, and is highly accessible.
By picking up litter, we made a conscious, tangible, and positive change in our local community. Seeing the pavements free of litter filled us with great satisfaction.
