World Autism Acceptance Week

World Autism Acceptance Week 27/03/2023 – 02/04/2023

The manager organized a staff and residents colourful walk at Mote Park on 27/03/2023 at 10am following the theme proposed by National Autistic Society..

Get walking and make a difference this World Autism Acceptance Week. Spectrum Colour Walks are suitable for all ages and abilities and take place in an inclusive green space. For us, as a team is a colourful day out in our mission to create a society that works for autistic people.

100% of staff and 100% of residents attended the walk and said that they had a great time.

A video that summarises our amazing day out.

The feedback we received from the staff after the event was very positive.

”Autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how people interact with others, communicate, learn, and behave'.

We we're all lucky enough to have spent the morning with four people who share these characteristics in one form or another.

But for the few hours we all came together, they interacted, communicated, learnt & behaved like everyone else. We all enjoyed each other’s company for a walk in the park on a beautiful morning and nobody was treated any differently.

This morning was one very big smile moment 😁 and I for one was grateful to have been part of it  🤝

Great memories ❤”  Penny

“I had a lovely morning; it was good with the sun out and really good for us all to bond together and make happy memories. Working with people with autistic tendencies is very challenging but also very rewarding knowing we are all making a difference.  Thank you all. ❤ “ Linda

“It was a lovely spending the morning with everyone 🥰

I find working with service users with autistic tendencies very rewarding.

As we have watched them grow and overcome so much and watched them flourish into the amazing individuals, they are today ❤️” Kerry

“Russell  and Val,   participating  in the walk along with our special  clients on a level they could enjoy as well as staff was something else.” Caron

“We had such a lovely time with the clients didn’t we, can’t wait to do it again ❤”  Jackie
